This program is about creating a safe space for medical students and professionals who want to talk to other medical professionals about their feelings, emotions and spiritual thoughts. It is a space to support each other and help raise awareness and fight depression, burnout, and suicide. Ideally, this project will initially exist to provide 1 on 1 support between medical professionals so that they can discuss whatever is on their mind with another medical professional that may have gone through a similar experience, or at least has the capacity to empathize and listen. A lot of our time is spent serving the public, but there is a blatant disregard and lack of support and empathy for those of us expected to provide that service to others. As our community grows and more professionals are aware of our service and platform, there is room to grow communities and discussion groups to support mentorship programs, forums for idea sharing and possibly even community events. Please visit the website www.shhprogram.com if you are interested in becoming a listener.
